      IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY    is extended to the family and friends of Millie Sudkamp, who was buried from our parish on Friday, January 12th.  Please continue to pray for  Millie and her family.

THANK YOU       To thank people in public is to risk missing someone, but I would like to thank some folks for making our Christmas celebrations go smoothly and be beautiful.  Thank you to Doug Smith, the choir, and all the musicians – the music was quite nice; to Mary Kay Connolly, Tim Reynolds, Dave Thiel, and all who helped decorate inside and out, Tom and Kathy Saalfeld, who donated the Christmas trees, and to Jim and Bev Stegman, who kept everything watered; Judy Leick and the Worship Committee, who prepared the liturgies and scheduled the ministers, and generally oversaw everything.  Please take a moment and thank these people yourselves.  Thank you also to all who donated money for flowers and to all who served us as liturgical ministers.  It really does take the whole parish to make our events all they can be.  Finally, I would like to thank our office and maintenance staff.  It gets very busy around here right before Christmas, and they were not only competent, but smiling.

FREE TO A GOOD HOME    We have a number of poinsettias left over from Christmas.  Please feel free to take one home with you.  They can be found in the back of church.

PLEASE NOTE    Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be cancelled this week, due to the First Reconciliation service.  Please remember to keep all of our 2nd grade students in your prayers as they prepare for this sacrament.

ATTENTION ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   Please remember that the next meeting is the 3rd Sunday, January 21st, instead of the second Sunday this month.

STEWARDSHIP PLEDGE DRIVE    If you haven’t already done so, please return your pledge card to the parish office. Volunteers will soon be making phone calls to those who have not responded.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

INSPIRATIONAL HOMILIES ON CD   Listen to God's message as you drive or share his message with a shut-in or friend.  Fr. Stef's December homilies are available on CD and can be picked up in the back of church or in the parish office.

LOOKING TO MAKE SOME EXTRA MONEY?   We are looking for parishioners who would like to bartend and/or clean up when there is a party in McCrystal Hall.  Training will be provided for anyone interested.  Please contact the parish office (441-1352).

DO YOU EVER FORGET YOUR ENVELOPE?   We would like to offer the parish an opportunity to contribute in a new way.  Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) is a new trend that could make your life a little simpler.  EFT would cost you and the parish nothing. If you would like to know more about this process or are interested in beginning to contribute in this manner, please contact Mary Brzinski at 441-1352 or email mbrzinski@stcatherineofsiena.org.

SCHOOL PLAY NEWS   Tickets are on sale for the St. Catherine Junior High production of Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.  Remaining performance dates are January 14th, 19th and 20th, with dinner performance on the 20th.  Cost for show is $5.00, dinner and show is $15.00.  For tickets call Sue Ann Freeman at 442-7558.

AT THE END OF THE WORLD WILL YOU BE "LEFT BEHIND"?  Join Fr. Mike Comer, anointed speaker, as he separates truth from fiction about the "End Times" on Sunday, January 21st at 7:00 pm. Come learn what the Church really teaches, substantiated by theological tradition and scripture. Music by our very own Jon Guth! Don't be "left behind" from the truth -mark your calendar for an inspiring spiritual evening. Questions call Sharon Kohrs 441-1069 or Terri Babey 441-3438.

YOU ARE INVITED!   The time is now to sign up to participate in the upcoming Christ Renews weekends. The weekends are: Women:  January 27 & 28  Men:  February 17 & 18. The CRHP weekend is open to all parishioners ages 19-99, even if you have previously participated in the CRHP process, you are still encouraged to attend.  There is NO COST - Everything is taken care of for you.  Accommodations will be provided by parishioners and the weekend is held on the parish grounds. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the members of your parish, knowing more than just names and faces.  It is a chance for you to open up and respond to Christ’s call and develop a closer deeper relationship.  Accept this invitation--Give us a call!  Sue Perkins 441-9459  Kathy Woltermann 441-6813 Dave Barth 441-0194 Tom New 781-4332.

DOUBLE YOUR GIVING     Did you know that many companies in the area have "Matching Gift Programs" for current employees, as well as retirees and surviving spouses of former employees?   Most companies match gifts to eligible charities or educational institutions on a dollar for dollar basis, with annual maximum giving limits of $5000 or more.  St Catherine School is eligible for many of these programs, so in addition to being tax deductible, your contribution's impact can be doubled throughout the use of your employer's Matching Gifts Program. Please check with your employer to see if you can double the impact of your giving.

WOMEN’S RETREAT   Need a weekend to renew and refresh your faith?  Please join us at Marydale, February 23rd – 25th.  Msgr. Bill Cleves will be the retreat master.  To reserve your spot, please contact Jennie Cox (441-4322), or Pat Brennan (781-2711).

ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS   A retreat just for you will be held on March 10th & 11th.  If you like to participate in this rewarding experience, please contact Brian Cox at 441-4322.  Invite a friend to come along; they will thank you for it!

JESSE TREE THANK YOU   “I would like to thank the members of St. Catherine’s for your kind donation of hats, gloves, scarves and personal care items.  Thanks to the combined efforts of many parishioners, our veterans were not forgotten and experienced the true spirit of Christmas.  Your generosity is very much appreciated by the patients of the VA Nursing Home and Domiciliary.”  - Lori Steinmann, Voluntary Service Specialist.
