IN OUR PARISH

***ENDOFBOX***

(2303-0218.tif)NEW OFFICE HOURS....beginning Tuesday, September 5th, the parish

office will be open from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. We hope this will make it more

convenient for parishioners to stop in and take care of any parish business.

WE WELCOME....as our new job share secretary, Tara Rapp. Tara is a member of

Blessed Sacrament Parish and lives in Ft. Mitchell with her husband and two

children. She will be working in the parish office on Thursdays and Fridays.

Please extend your warm wishes to her the next time you call or stop in the

office.

NEW HOMILY CDs AVAILABLE...Fr. Stef’s homilies are being recorded and will be

available on CDs. The CDs are free to our parishioners and can be picked up in

the parish office. If possible, please return the CDs to the office when you

are finished with them.

WHAT IS RCIA?...the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the

sacramental formation process that prepares individuals for a particular way of

life - as a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Conversion is at the heart of

that way of life. The initiation of new members can only take place within the

context of a community of believers. The initiation of

adults is the responsibility of all the baptized. How can parish members become

involved in the RCIA process? One of the most essential parts of the formation

process is the identification of candidates. This is one instance where members

of our faith community play a vital role. Is there someone in your life who has

expressed an interest in knowing more about our faith? Do you have

a spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this

subject? Ninety percent of our candidates come from referrals of parish

members. If you have someone in your life that would like to consider the

possibility of becoming a catholic, please call or have the

potential candidate call the parish office (441-1352), Jeff Rosenstiel

(866-4998), or Paul Meisenhelder (491-9455). The RCIA classes begin on

Thursday, September 21st, at 7:30 p.m. in the school library. Please reach out

to potential candidates and encourage them to make the call or volunteer to do

so for them.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD....will be celebrated on the second and fourth

Sundays of each month at the 9:00 a.m. mass, beginning September 10th. All

children aged kindergarten to fourth grade are invited. Older children are

welcome to help as singers, lectors, or to help with the younger children.

Adults are needed to act as leaders for this ministry. Please join us for CLOW

and learn how we celebrate the Liturgy of the Word to include children. Join

our adult/teen team by calling Alison Schwalbach at 441-1865.

CCD-RELIGIOUS EDUCATION....Parish families with children entering the first

grade of the public school system for the 06-07 school year should register

those children for the parish CCD program as soon as possible. Information and

registration forms may be downloaded from the parish website at

www.stcatherineofsiena.org. A copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate should

accompany their registration.

CCD TEACHER...Our CCD program is still in need of one “on-fire” parishioner to

co-instruct sixth graders in the upcoming 2006-07 year. Interested individuals

should possess love of Catholicism, children and a willingness to grow. After

prayerful consideration, contact David Kohrs at kohrssd@fuse.net or 441-1069 to

open this door of opportunity and step up in faith!

THE CCD PROGRAM....will hold its opening on Sunday, September 10th. Class

begins for parents and students at 10:15 a.m. Do not be late! A welcoming

reception follows in the gymnasium. Contact David Kohrs at kohrssd@fuse.net or

441-1069 with any questions.

PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES.....are still in progress. You will be informed when they

are available for pick up. If you did not get your picture taken, but would

like a directory, please call Lori Greis at 442-5249 to place an order.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB...Want to make new friends? Learn a different card

game? Take some great trips? Join up with the St. Catherine Siena Club on the

second Sunday of each month in McCrystal Hall, 1:00 p.m. Back to the hall on

September 10th with old friends and new ones!

COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE....will meet on Sunday, September 10th after the

9 am Mass in McCrystal Hall. Everyone is invited to attend to hear about parish

outreach efforts. New ideas are always welcome.

ST. CATHERINE MEN’S ANNUAL GOLF TRIP.....Individual or foursome slots are

available for the September 14th-17th weekend trip to Perry Park, KY. Two or

three night packages include golf, food and lodging. Can’t beat the price!

Come join the fun for the end of the summer event! Contact Kevin Johnson

committee name for August to Cheri Hunter by email at

cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone (781-4507), or leave a note in box by parking

lot door. If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those

with the August hours. The hours are now reported to St. Elizabeth on a

quarterly basis- so you are never too late to report hours. Thanks again for

your help in this matter.

Thank you for supporting the ministries of six Catholic organizations that are

combined into our Diocesan Domestic Needs Collection. Your gifts will help to

develop media programming and projects that promote Gospel values, help college

students’ dreams come true by providing tuition assistance, help those living

in poverty improve their lives and their futures, help Catholics in remote and

poor mission territories live out their faith under difficult circumstances and

support evangelization programs that otherwise may be in danger of disappearing

among the Black, American Indian, Eskimo and Aleute communities of the United

States. If you haven’t had the opportunity to make your gift to Strengthen Your

Church At Home, please do so today or next weekend. Use the envelope you

received in the mail or the one included in your parish envelopes. Make checks

payable to the Diocesan Domestic Needs Collection. Thank you.
