A/C UPDATE...... There are good things to report. The new air conditioning
units, at this writing (Tuesday), are in Texas, and the company is arranging a
carrier to bring them to Cincinnati. The company hopes to have them here by
next Tuesday (the 18th). By this Thursday (the 13th) Rechtin plans on being
here to begin the retrofitting and other work that needs to be done.
Also as of this writing, 62 families or individuals have donated $37,888.00
toward the new system. We won’t know the final bill, of course, until
everything is up and running, but, based on the bid, we are just about 70% of
the way to raising the money we need.
The hope is that we have only one more weekend without air conditioning. I have
been encouraged by the number of people who have stayed and endured the warmth
during Mass. The number of people attending daily Mass is staying about the
same, with some days at even slightly higher attendance, and the weekends have
been pretty well attended. The last two weekends, in fact, were very well
attended. Your commitment to the Lord and to the Eucharist will bring you
blessings in return.
Allow me to offer some reflections about what we have been going through.
First, I hope you have been grateful for the beautiful weather we have had in
the last few weeks. If you remember last June, you will realize that we have
been very lucky. Second, in general, we Americans avoid any and all suffering
as something terrible. Yes, it can be a little uncomfortable in the worship
space. Let us keep it in perspective, though. There are many in the world who
suffer to the point of death because of heat and dehydration. Hopefully, the
little we have suffered in the past weeks will make us more compassionate
toward those for whom suffering is a way of life. Also, speaking of suffering,
I’m sure what Jesus suffered for us was worse. Finally, let me say this: if
you have a health problem that makes it unsafe or unwise for you to come to
Mass here on a very warm day, please do not feel guilty about going to a
different parish for Mass that day. I would rather miss you at Mass than have
you suffer a health incident.

BUSINESS MANAGER....We have hired someone as our first business manager! Her
name is Mary Brzinski. She has written something for herself elsewhere in this
bulletin, so I won’t go into much about her, but I wanted you to know. In a
few weeks (Mary has given notice with her present employer) we will arrange a
way for everyone to meet her. I am excited about the position of Business
Manager, and I am excited about Mary filling the position. I think she will be
a great addition to our staff. I hope that you take the time to introduce
yourself to Mary and make her feel welcome.

Hi St. Catherine of Siena Parishioners,
My name is Mary Brzinski. I am really excited to begin work as your business
manager and look forward to meeting each of you. A little bit about me… hmmm…
I am a member of St. Timothy Parish in Union. Our family relocated to Union,
KY in 2000 and we absolutely love it here. We are originally from Chicago
Heights, IL. My husband Tony & I have two sons Ben (21) and Chris (15) and we
will be celebrating 23 years of marriage at the end of this month. I have been
working in the accounting field for over 20 years. A couple of fun facts about
me… My favorite place to shop is Staples – I LOVE office supplies – staplers,
pencils, tape, file folders, all of it – go figure… I am a bit of a computer
geek and I enjoy writing spiritual/inspirational poetry.
