COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE......will have their monthly meeting this Sunday, May

7th at 10:15 a.m. in McCrystal Hall. Everyone is invited to attend this

meeting, plans will be finalized for the Mother’s Day project.

ATTENTION: SIENA CLUB MEMBERS......meeting date change......the May meeting will

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW) NEEDS YOU!!.....CLOW is seeking new

leadership to continue this ministry. Please consider stepping forward to

serve the children and parish. Needed: a coordinator, new leaders and helpers

during the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Please call Mary Kay (441-7195) ASAP. If we do not

have new leaders - CLOW will end by June of this year. Please prayerfully

and Victoria Paige Sutkamp, children of Meredith and Ben; Nicholas James

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN 2006....sponsored by St. Catherine’s Respect Life will be

taking place from Mother’s Day - Father’s Day, May 14th - June 18th. Members

of the Respect Life group will be distributing baby bottles after all Masses on

Mother’s Day for you to fill with your pocket change and return by June 18th.

These funds will benefit Care Net Pregnancy Services of N. Ky. Care Net is a

Christian organization which ministers to women facing an unplanned pregnancy.

The baby bottle campaign is a key fund raiser allowing Care Net to continue

their important services. Thank you for your support!

ST. CATHERINE’S 4-DAY SUMMER FEST BASKET RAFFLE.....This year our goal is to

create five fabulous theme baskets valued at $150 and up! We need your help by

donating basket items or by making a monetary donation. We will use your

donation and create the baskets. Our five themes are Angels Amongst Us; On The

Road Again; The Great Outdoors; and Backyard BBQ. Please help us with your

donation by June 2nd. We will be happy to pick up!! Volunteers are also needed

the night of the festival. Let us know if you can work. Thanks! Kelly

THE 2ND ANNUAL 5K COMMUNITY FUN RUN/WALK.....Saturday, June 10th. Check in at

6:30 a.m. at St. Catherine Church. Runners start at 7:00 a.m., walkers at 7:30

a.m. Pre-registration before May 27th is $10 per person, $25 per family and

includes t-shirt. Late registration is the same cost but no t-shirt.

Registration forms are available at the church and school offices. Questions -

call Jeff Camm at 781-3330.

ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON?....Volunteers are needed to help with the registration

and course for the Community Fun Walk/Run on June 10th. Contact Jeff Camm at

781-3330 if you would like to help.

MOTHER’S DAY IS COMING!....The parish will again remember women who are confined

to home or living in a nursing home. Some are members of the parish; others

have been identified as people who receive few visitors. There is a display in

the back of church with names of these people. Parishioners will be asked to

take a name, purchase a flower or plant and deliver it on or before Mother’s

Day. The Community Action Committee will purchase a small potted annual for

women living in shelters. There are approximately 60 women total who will

receive this small gift. Your assistance is needed in several ways: organizing

the project for the CAC; providing a monetary donation; attaching ribbons and

cards or helping with delivery. If you can help in any way, please call JoAnn

Schwartz (781-2427).

CATHOLIC ORDER OF FORESTERS....St. Catherine COF will be attending Forester Day

at Florence Freedom on June 12th. Game time is 7:05 p.m. This is a FREE event

for Forester youth plus the first 500 youths receive a commemorative ball cap.

Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Adult Forester tickets are $5. RSVP by

May 14th and receive round trip bus transportation from St. Catherine’s parking

lot. If you would like to become a member, please contact parishioner Tom

ARE YOU MISSING A BOWL OR PLATE???........If you have prepared food for the

Bereavement Committee in the past and have not picked up your serving dish,

please check the basket in the bar area of McCrystal Hall. Items will be

available for pick up throughout the month of May. If it’s not possible for

you to pick up items, leave a message for Judy Messmer (441-0291).

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL....JULY 31ST - August 4th from 9 - 11:45 a.m. -

“Sontreasure Island - registration for 4 year olds-6th graders, forms will be

available on the St. Catherine website beginning May 4th. A registration

table set up outside the gym on Sunday, May 7th during CCD. Forms may be

picked up in the school or parish office or in the back of church.

 

Cost: $20 per child with a $50 maximum for families. Deadline for registration

is May 30th. Late registration will be charged a $5 fee. Sign up you children

for a fun week of discovering God’s love! Registration questions, call Amy

500 CARD PLAYERS....Another season has come to a conclusion. It was a great

time for all and made a little cash for our parish. A new season will start up

in August. We play once a month, on the 4th Wednesday at Captain’s Cove in

Newport. We arrive at 11:30 a.m., have lunch and then play 32 hands of cards.

We are generally finished around 3:00 p.m. Our group is always inviting new

ladies to join us. You do not have to be a member of St. Catherine. You also

don’t have to be there every month, as we have a sub list. If you or anyone you

know wants to become part of this lively, fun group, please phone Nancy Miller

ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA CLUB TRAVEL GROUP....is planning a seven (7) day trip to

BRANSON, MO, September 10 - 16th. Cost: $579.00 includes transportation,

Community Pharmacy of St. Vincent de Paul will be held on Saturday, May 13 from

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Christian Church, 195 Buttermilk Pike,

Lakeside Park. The appraisal fee is $5 per item. Lunch and baked goods will

FT THOMAS SCHOOLS PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.....is provided at Johnson Elementary

School. Eligibility is for Ft. Thomas School district residents and is

determined as follows: Option 1 - All children who qualify for the free lunch

program and who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2006. Parents

should contact Johnson School 441-2444 after Aug. 1st to secure an application

form. Option 2 - All children who qualify for special services, including

speech therapy and are 3 or 4 years of age. A screening to determine

eligibility for the preschool will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. To

WALK THE BRIDGE FOR LIFE....New Hope Center’s 15th Annual Walk For Life will be

held on June 4th from 2 - 4 p.m. It will be a two mile walk beginning at the

World Peace Bell in Newport. Hundreds of participants will converge on the

Purple People Bridge for this peaceful prayerful presence to advocate for the

sanctity of human life. Please join us and bring your families. This is a

collaborative event sponsored by the Diocese of Covington, Archdiocese of

Cincinnati, New Hope Center and other N. Ky life affirming organizations. For
