      IN OUR PARISH

WE WELCOME TO OUR PARISH FAMILY THROUGH BAPTISM    Hayden Robert Hasson, son of Robert and Stephanie; and Ellysa Ann Wira, daughter of Phil and Ellen.  May God continue to bless them and their families.

HOMILIES ON CD   Fr. Stef’s September homilies are now available on cd and can be found in the back of church.

PART-TIME JOB    We are looking for someone for the early hours of the morning.  Duties would be

opening up the school and church buildings, turning on lights, perhaps emptying some paper bins, and being on

hand if there are any situations at school that need attention (out of paper towels in the restrooms, etc.)  It

would be perfect for a retired person.  Hours will probably be 7:00-ish to 10:30-ish.  Contact Mary in the

 office, phone 441-1352, e-mail mbrzinski@stcatherineofsiena.org.

UPCOMING PRAISE & WORSHIP SPEAKER   Robert Rogers lost his wife and four children during a flash flood in 2003.  Hear his powerful witness as he shares his remarkable testimony of hope and God’s grace through tragedy.  In his words, “God can bring beauty from ashes.  There is peace through Jesus. God is still good, all the time.” Don’t miss this compelling witness at St. Catherine tonight, Sunday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m.  No tickets required - a free will offering will be taken.  Questions, call Terri at 441-3438 or Sharon at 441-1069.

INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK   needs volunteers.  St. Catherine’s next service opportunity is October 16,17 & 18 at Christ Church.  The sign-up poster is at the Rossford Ave exit of church. Everyone who can volunteer this rotation is encouraged to invite a friend to come along.  Once you experience this ministry to the homeless, you realize how little effort it takes to make a difference.  Any questions, call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964.

DON’T FORGET   to make your reservation for the wonderful evening offered by the Social Life Committee – A Night To Remember – Saturday, October 21st, 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  There will be wine, cheese, food, and music.  Admission is only a snack. Time is running out and reservations are necessary, so call Marcia Adkins 781-0749 or Ray Duff 441-9292.  Come to the Cabaret!

DID YOU KNOW   that copies of “Our History, St. Catherine of Siena” are still available?  These 75th anniversary books chronicling the rich history of St. Catherine Parish may be purchased in the parish office.  Get one for your children, Aunt Susan and Uncle John who are former members.  Good Christmas present and the cost is only $8.00.

AN INVITATION   If you’re confined to home and unable to attend Mass (even if it’s just temporary), please call St. Catherine Parish (441-1352) if you’d like to receive Holy Communion in your home.  One of our Parish Ministries, Outreach to the Homebound, is waiting to bring the Eucharist to you, a family member, or even your neighbor. We know that this is a need waiting to be filled, but we must first hear from you.  So please accept this invitation and allow us to share the Living Bread – the Body of Jesus- with you.

FORESTER FAMILY FUN DAY    Don’t miss the family fun day the Foresters is sponsoring on Sunday, October 22 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm in the upper side parking lot. There will be food, games, face painting, pumpkin decoration, and a haunted house created by our own jr. high students. Kids can wear their costumes!  Please come and enjoy this day with family and friends.

FLU SHOTS    will be available on Saturday, October 28th & Sunday, October 29th for people ages 12 & older.  The shots are free for those with a Medicare card and $20 cash/check for all others.  The times are Saturday, after 4:30 mass until 6:15 and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Please contact Carol Gessner at 442-5280 with questions.  Sign-up sheets will be in the parish office, throughout the church, and in the school office.  It is very important you sign-up so enough of the vaccines will be available.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND SERVERS NEEDED    for the Christmas masses.  Please call Judy Leick, 781-3890, if you would like to volunteer for a particular mass.  There will be 9:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and midnight masses on Christmas Eve and 10:00 a.m. mass on Christmas Day.  Many volunteers are needed, otherwise individuals will be scheduled randomly.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for September to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com,  by phone, 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the September hours.  The hours are now reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis – so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.

MINUTES FROM PARISH ORGANIZATIONS   will no longer be printed in the Community Circle.  Instead, approved minutes will be posted on the website in the near future.

THE SCRIP PROGRAM is still the easiest solution to all of your gift-giving needs.  So instead of stressing over what to buy for that special someone, stop by the parish office or the back of church after mass and pick a gift certificate from our wide range of retail stores, restaurants, etc.  You’ll not only walk away with a great gift, but you’ll be earning money for St. Catherine Parish as well!  (While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up some certificates for your own everyday use!)

GUIDE BOOK & DIRECTORY UPDATE     We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the Church.  The book contains the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of our Church.  The book is provided at no cost, including the mailing to each family, and again is being subsidized by local businesses that advertise in it.  If you own or manage a business and would like to find out how to advertise in our book, please call the Parish Office.  Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize our Guide Book & Directory advertisers over a non-advertiser.  It “does pay” to advertise in our Guide Book & Directory.

INFORMATION UPDATE   If any of your personal information has changed in the past year, (address, phone number, new baby, etc.), please advise the parish office as soon as possible so that the new Guidebook will have your correct information.
